A friend of mine told me of an acronym for the word focus.  F.O.C.U.S.  (Follow One Course Until Successful)    Being Focused is an important key to your success!

Focus is sustained attention in order to obtain the results we desire.  This entails examining our own behaviors and then choosing how to think and act in order to create those results.

Being focused is not something we do only with our eyes.  It is very much mental as well.  Our thoughts, self talk, and beliefs have a huge roll to play in it.  A person that follows a plan for success and has a belief that says they can’t achieve it, is not totally focused on what it is they want.

I am an avid skier and one thing I was taught when I was learning to ski the trees was never to look at the trees.  If you look at a tree you will hit it.  Keep your focus on the path through the trees.  Look where you want to go!

I found this to be very true.  Where I looked, is where I went.  Also, how I thought had an impact on things as well.  (Yes, pun intended)  If I skied the trees worrying about hitting them or focusing on NOT hitting them, the results I created weren’t very good.  Thinking this way had me focusing on the trees which is not where I wanted to be.  (Think about what you want, not what you don’t want)  The results I wanted to create could only be done by focusing on a path through the trees.  Which meant mentally focusing on making my turn here and turning over there, etc.  I also had to know that I could and would make the turn.  Whenever I doubted myself I would always stop, regather my focus and go again.

In order to be focused on where you want to go, you have to be clear about where you want to be.  If you have no clarity on this you will not have focus.  So, first know where it is you want to go, have a belief and a knowing that you can get there, and be able to see yourself having already done it.  Now your focusing on where you want to go.
